Breast Cancer Recovery - Pink Ribbon Pilates

As recommended by the Physiotherapy team at he Central Lancashire Breast Unit based at Chorley and South Ribble Hospital

Benefits of the Pink Ribbon Program:

  • Promote lymphatic drainage, helping to prevent lymphedema

For this course we can use the full range of Pilates studio equipment.  Specific moves to help

Cath started her Pilates and breast cancer training in Oxford in 2008.  She soon wanted to expand her knowledge to help more women, so enrolled on the first ever Pink Ribbon course delivered by the found - Doreen Puglisi.

The course fascinating, and as theses things happen, we welcomed my first post-rehab lady into my studio not long after.  I furthered the depth and understanding of the effect of the disease on the body by attending the (again inaugural) full certification of the Pink Ribbon Programme. Cath from Experience Pilates was the first in the North West of England to qualify with this prestigious certificate.

Why you need this?

Have you noticed any changes in your pelvic floor?  Not working like it used to?

This can happen for any number of reasons:

  • Problems with breathing,
  • Age (sorry - that happens to us all...!)
Research suggest that back pain and general feelings of wellbeing can be linked to a poor pelvic floor.We all have a pelvic floor, so problems can happen to anyone, at anytime.  The vast majority of people can be helped to regain a strong and functioning pelvic floor.We offer a specific pelvic floor health Pilates programme to help you manage better.Factors to consider why our pelvic floor weakens:

  • Obesity
  • Weak muscles
  • Multiple births inc cesarian
  • Sitting at a desk (office job)
  • Poor exercise technique

Diamond Pilates is a 6-week course whose focus is purely on pelvic floor dysfunction and strengthening exercises for both men and women.

It is a progressive Pilates programme to give you all the tools to help strengthen those very important 3 layers of muscle, weekly homework and handouts will be given.

We offer Diamond Pilates as a 6-week course for 1 or 2 people in our Goosnargh studio.
